Genvoya Vs Biktarvy. Genvoya and Biktarvy are part of antiretroviral therapy, which involves the combination of two or more antiviral drugs in the treatment of the human immunodeficiency virus. Let us learn the difference between these medicines, particularly their definition, usages, and side effects.

Definition

Genvoya is a mixture of cobicistat, elvitegravir, emtricitabine, and tenofovir alafenamide. Cobicistat is a pharmacokinetic booster, which is a class of medication. The mixture of these drugs prevents the advancement of HIV into AIDS (acquired immunodeficiency syndrome). It prevents the virus from replicating and multiplying.

Meanwhile, Biktarvy is also a mixture of bictegravir, emtricitabine, and tenofovir alafenamide. Bictegravir is an integrase inhibitor, while emtricitabine and tenofovir are nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs). Biktarvy prevents the infection from replicating within the body.
