FDCs
HIV cannot cure but due to various treatment availability, a person can survive and live a normal life. The medications used for HIV treatment can lower the chance to transfer the infection and reduce future complications. It offers various other advantages like control the growth of the virus, improves the immune system to work, stops the transfer of HIV, and block the enzyme to multiply the virus or replicate DNA inside the human body.
According to the FDA, multiple antiretroviral medications are useful to treat HIV and suggested to start the treatment with a doctor’s consultancy. It is important to not start taking the medicine or combinations of drugs by yourself because it offers side effects or may not work effectively. So, HIV drugs should be taken as per the doctor’s recommendation, and before using other supplements should take the proper prescription.
As the health consultant prefers the HIV medication to use in combinations. To make things easier some drug manufacturing companies prefer to provide antiretroviral drugs in the combinations. It helps in easy consumption and effective working.
Some of the fixed-dose combinations are as follows:
Integrase strand transfer inhibitor (INSTIs):
- Dolutegravir + abacavir + lamivudine
- Dolutegravir + rilpivirine or DTG/RPV
- Dolutegravir + lamivudine or DTG/3TC
- Elvitegravir + cobicistat + tenofovir
Protease inhibitor (PI):
- Atazanavir + cobicistat or ATV/c
- Darunavir + cobicistat or DRV/c
Non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NNRTIs):
- Doravirine + tenofovir disoproxil fumarate + lamivudine or DOR/TDF/3TC
- Rilpivirine + tenofovir alafenamide + emtricitabine or RPV/TAF/FTC
Nucleoside/nucleotide reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NRTIs):
- Abacavir + lamivudine or ABC/3TC
- Abacavir + lamivudine + zidovudine or ABC/3TC/ZDV
- Tenofovir alafenamide + emtricitabine or TAF/FTC
- Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate + lamivudine or TDF/3TC
