What is Descovy (Emtricitabine/Tenofovir AF)?

A popular mixture of ARV medication is Descovy. Aside from its main function as an HIV therapy, the said medication is also utilized as a PrEP. Its two main components are Emtricitabine and Tenofovir.

Descovy Usual Prescription:

• Prescribe for both adults and children
• Children prescription - 12 years and above
• Also, prescribe as a PrEP medication

How does it work?

The major ingredients of Descovy are nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs). When joined together, the medication can prevent the reverse transcriptase from helping HIV in spreading. Other than that, this type of medication can assist the body’s immune system to function better. It blocks other health dilemmas from emerging.

Consistent with similar ARV medications, Descovy also follows the same guideline in treating the virus.

How to take Descovy

Consume this drug once a day. Following the right protocol in taking this medication must be strictly done. Your doctor will give you detailed information about the prescription. Descovy Side Effects

There are corresponding adverse reactions to taking this drug. Some of it is only minimal and will be gone in a few days. However, if these side effects continue for a longer amount of time, consult your doctor at once.

• Light-coloured bowel movements
• Dark yellow or brown urine
• Unusual bleeding or bruising
• Flu-like symptoms
• Abdominal pain
• Difficult or painful urination
• Decreased urination
• Difficulty swallowing
