Two of the most-used antiviral drugs are Tivicay and Descovy. The generic name of Tivicay is Dolutegravir, while Descovy, a popular PrEP drug, goes by the generic names emtricitabine and tenofovir alafenamide.
Tivicay is part of the INSTIs group or integrase strand transfer inhibitor. Meanwhile, Descovy is a nucleotide reverse transcriptase inhibitor. These group classifications function the same way by suppressing the virus and preventing the increase of viral load within the body.

Tivicay can interact with other 205 drugs, while Descovy will have a similar effect on 155 medicines. However, Tivicay and Descovy are safe to co-administer.
